63 / Following the withdrawal of the Monterverdi Onyx team, drivers Gregor Foitek and JJ Lehto remained in civvies in Belgium, casting their eyes around for work. Onyx's withdrawal meant Ligier escaped the trauma of pre-qualifying.
65 / Nigel Mansell's Ferrari is hit up the back by Nelson Piquet's Benetton. A chain reaction crash into La Source involving both Lotus drivers would cause the race to be stopped. 69 / Ayrton Senna celebrates his fifth victory of the season at Spa-Francorchamps to extend his lead in the drivers' standings to 63 points, 13 clear of second man Alain Prost who finished second in Belgium.
70 / Nigel Mansell's Ferrari comes to a rest on the inside of the track as Derek Warwick's Lotus passes by, on the first attempt to start the Belgian Grand Prix. The debris belongs to Warwick's Lotus team-mate Marin Donnelly, who Warwick hit. Mansell would restart in Prost's spare car but would retire suffering from bad oversteer.
71 / Boutsen leads Berger, Patrese, Mansell, Alesi, Senna and Nannini. Williams Renault racer Thierry Boutsen was fighting for his job entering the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend, as team boss Franck Williams conducted negotiations with Nigel Mansell and battled to enforce a contract with Jean Alesi who had become also signed for Ferrari.
78 / Race winner Thierry Boutsen celebrates his third and final grand win with Ayrton Senna at the Hungaroring. Senna could afford to look pleased, as title rival Alain Prost had retired with a gearbox failure.
